Infant feeding

Breast feeding...biting and being rejected..help

My baby bit me sunday night when trying to feed her a bedtime, she is 8.5 mths, i firmly told her no and after hysterical crying i fed her ok and fed her again in the morning with no problems. she only has 2 milk feeds a day. whe it came to feeding her last night she didn't want it just looked up at me as if no thanks, i tried to persist but cryed so cuddled her an dput her to sleep..slept through. this morning again she wont feed...giggled and then cryed and help out there would be good ??????

sounds like a nursing strike just keep trying - it was probably a bit of a shock for her when you reacted to being bitten (not suggesting that you shouldn't have it bloody hurts! )

Popster, a friend of mine is experiencing long term nursing strike and is now expressing for her 1 year old. I know how distressing it can be though and hope that you can get your baby back on to the breast. I think in the future if she bites you can push her face into your boob to make her release (sounds drastic but it should work!).
Anyway, I would say just keep trying her at the breast, maybe take her into your bed and make a game of it.

Go a search on here as there are quite a few MNers have had this happen.
