Infant feeding

Green poo, wind and crying

DS2 is 3 months and EBF. He has had the occasional bout of green poo, and it's often been after a period of cluster feeding, so I assumed it was maybe that he was taking too much foremilk bs hindmilk. But recently he has been squirming and crying during a feed, and come off, cried as though in pain, strained a lot, and done explosive bright green slimy poo with lots of wind. It seems to happen more in the evening, for some reason. I'm careful to allow him to come off the breast when he wants to, he tends to have around 10-20 mins on each side . He's on the 25th centile and is following it nicely. Any ideas what might be causing it, or advice? I hate seeing him in pain. Sad

The screaming and squirming plus being unhappy when feeding make me think silent reflux.

My DS has similar symptoms, along with actual vomiting, which was regular reflux. I was very confused by the poo/wind until we found he has rhinitis. This meant he couldn't breathe through his nose when feeding, and so he was taking in loads of air. Might be worth considering.

Hmm. I hadn't thought of silent reflux. The thing is, sometimes he's fine! It's mostly in the evenings that we get the crying and back arching, and the green poo is usually at night. Would that still fit? He's not an especially sicky baby.

It doesn't have to be every time, sometimes mine was fine other times he was sick constantly. Silent reflux is hard to spot because they aren't often sick.
