Rub breast milk on them after each feed. And get your latch checked.

I know you want home remedies, but lasinoh really is magic stuff.
I would be a bit concerned at sore nipples starting 3 weeks in...as pp said, check your latch, make sure your baby is on properly and not just sucking the end of your nipple.

let your nipples get some air after feeding if you can.

good luck, and congrats on your new baby!

Well done you with breast feeding, keep it up and don't give up.
I went really sore too and was rocommended Lasinoh lanolin cream, but it didnt really help initially. I found silicone breatfeeding nipple protectors, from Mothercare were the key and my nipples recovered after a few days.
I found it better to let my nipples toughen up on their own rather than keep them soft and smooth.

Cling film over them 2 x a day with casein under to stop cracking

You need to treat the cause as well as the symptom.

Sore nipples are not normal and indicate that something is wrong. Get yourself to a BF cafe to get your latch checked and also get your baby checked for tongue tie - NOT by a midwife or HV. If you can, use a lactation consultant or go to a tongue tie clinic near you.

In the mean time:

  • Lansinoh
  • air your nips as much as possible
  • Multi Mam compresses. Buy from boots, keep in fridge. They saved my nIpples in the early days.

Good luck and please don't carry on suffering.

Sore nipples really can be normal! Do check your latch checked and baby's tongue checked just in case but sometimes it is sore until your nipples have toughened up.

Please get your latch checked by a breastfeeding counsellor

Along with lots of lansinoh the best tip I know is cutting an empty Loo roll in half and wearing it over your nipple. Stops clothes rubbing/soaking up the lansinoh and allows some air to circulate. Obv this is not as good as being topless but that's not always practical

Express some breast milk and rub gently onto sore nipples. Then LET IT DRY before you get dressed -this is the really important bit that people forget to mention. Sticking to clothes / bra / pads is no fun.

And as PP have said, get your latch checked.

Very best of luck with your new little one!

Second the multimam compresses - i use one compress for two nipples (cut in half) as they are expensive. Also lovely if you cool them in fridge before applying.
Those and taking ibuprofen kept my bfeeding when my nipples were sore!

Multi Mam compresses are magical

Also let nipples air dry

Get latch checked

Is there any crack on the nipple ? If so put feed, compress then lansinoh on when every you feed

Is there s burning / stinging sharp shooting pains, when not feeding - then you could have a crack that got infected -
If there s redness there or a coating in baby s mouth It could be possible trush too

Jack Newman Apno - all purpose nipple cream is really excellent in these circs but you may need it prescribed by lactation consultant or dr

I rub Lansinoh on my breast pads every time I change them. I used nipple shields initially to give them chance to heal and then started with the lansinoh on breast pads and not had any problems since.
