Infant feeding

what's wrong with my left boob?

Dd is 3 months and has recently been showing a preference for my right boob, she doesn't really like feeding off the left at all, she'll come on and off whereas on the right side she'll have a proper feed. Any idea why? My boobs don't seem lopsided but could I have less supply on the left for some reason? Is it going to cause any problems?

Try placing the baby with it's legs under your arm rather than across your body, the position might make it easier for baby to breath whilst feeding. My two children had a preferred boob which now means I have one slightly bigger than the other, probably had it before but now more aware. Doesn't affect me in any way though, makes me smile actually as it reminds me of the closeness breastfeeding gave me to my children. My Nephew just preferred to be able to see what was going on in the World from a very early age.

I tried that and it worked thanks! I've not done that position for ages. She still had longer on the other boob but at least she properly fed.

You'd think my left boob would be engorged from not having a proper feed from it for ages Hmm

If I remember correctly you can't overfeed a breast fed baby but if you feel the slightest sensation of being engorged pop a savoy cabbage leaf on the boob, having stored it in the fridge, it's a real relief. I've got some great pictures of savoy cabbage bonnets placed on my children's heads, you've got to get your laughs somewhere! My other life saver was my V cushion, comfy for Mum and baby. Take care.
