Cow's Milk from Bottle for 11 months old, any extra vitamins needed?

I recently stopped breastfeeding my 11 months old son and as he would not take formula milk I started to feed him cow's milk (given that he is almost one). Just wondered if I need to give extra vitamin supplements as formula is supposed to have more vitamins such as iron etc. Or should I still try to feed him formula from time to time?

TBH if his diet is good I really wouldn't bother about formula or vitamins, and given his age I wouldn't bother about formula at all.

I did the sme with my dd and she was fine. She was eating reasonably well by that stage (ate lots of fruit) and my gp was also happy with her having cows milk rather than formula at that age. She was still having one BF per day though, but not getting much I think. Could you still give your ds a night time BF just to be sure?

Great timing booklover, my son is ten and a half months and am currently breastfed. All the blurb refers to 12 months, but was wondering if 4 - 6 weeks earlier would make any difference. Did you get any advice on this?? Thanks

I really wouldn't bother at that age.

My dd2 is 10 months and is currently bf. I go back to work on 3rd Jan when dd2 will be 11 months (boo hoo ). I am intending to still feed first and last thing - but dd2 will be having cow's milk or water during the day.

I discussed with my HV (a rare good one ) and she thought I didn't need to bother with formula at this age esp as dd2 was going to have some bfs.

Dd2 has organic cow's milk on her brekkie anyway - and I have started giving her some in a cup (so she gets used to it - she refuses a bottle). Organic milk is naturally richer in omega 3 than 'normal' cow's milk - which must be a good thing?

I am down to my last feed of bm in the freezer so if she wants anything when I'm not around she will be having cow's milk.

Like the other posters - if the diet is good then you should be O.K.

I give Abidec liquid vitamins to dd1 as she stopped drinking milk completly at 20 months - the little minx I was worried she wouldn't be getting enough vitamins by not drinking cow's milk. HTH

was wondering myself if formula would offer any benefits at this stage?
