really fed up today

my dd is 6 and a half months and- i work part time and she goes to nursery 2 days and gets looked after by dp one evening

she only occasionally takes bottle/cup and we've been trying since august!!

i got hauled up in front of nursery manager today because they are concerned about her eating./drinking- i know that she is more hard work than the babies who happily chug away at formula in bottles. the nn is great but is getting stressed out at trying to give her ebm - dp the same.

after v.disturbed sleep last night i ended up crying at nursery in front of all the staff when i picked her up in front of staff and babies as its been my main worry for so long and i didnt think nursery manager knew the situation very well

i explained that babies who breastfeed dont know how to suck in the same way - this was news to them!

i also felt that they were pressuring me into trying bottles again rather than trying to move on to cups

also previously she was happily eating breatmilk/pear baby rice but since being ill with a bad throat will not take any food

i only work short days so am not away for too long (max 6 hours)

in terms of bottles
tried:
avent
mam
nuk
tt closer to nature

more recently
doidy cup (liked it for a while)
nuk handled cup (loved it for a while and happily drinks water out of it - not milk)
vital baby starter cup - (she cant work it with the valve)

i know i should be patient on the food thing

i also want to keep breastfeeding as much as possible at the moment

any tips lovely mamas?

hope you are having a good friday night dp is out on the town me and my mate are in and drinking a wee bit of wine (she due in 2 months)

ta very much

If she was hungry/thirsty she would take something. i agree about persisting with a cup. At 61/2 months you could try dilute fresh fruit juice. Perhaps she will take that. No need for her to take milk. 6 hours isn't too long for her to go without a breastfeed.

keep bf as long as you can. my dd was also a bottle and cup refuser for a long time. my dd is at nursery ft and didn't seem to suffer half as bad as the ff babies with the bugs they pick up there. she is nearly 20 mos and still has never had d&v or a course of antibiotics.

it has saved me a heap of worry and sicky baby imho. besides, your dd would probably not like formula now anyway.

the cup that my dd used at nursery for ages and still uses at home is the simplest, cheapest of the Tommee Tippee cups. it has a simple spout with one hole at the top and no valve. here
