Back at work on Mon. DH got dd, 22wks. If...she refuses bottle (which is likely) will she be ok on morning feed, early eve feed, night feeds, solids and water or will there be merry hell. Was thinking about bringing her up to work to feed at lunch, but worried that this will just remind her I am not at home and make it hard for me to concentrate on work.

mine was - because he would not touch the milk I expressed for him. I fed before and after and whenever else he wanted on those days. I only worked 3 days per week though.

thanks for reassurance, i am a teacher, so just working for 4 days and then break up for hols, so fingers crossed she will make do and not scream all day.

well see how it goes for the first day - and then play it by ear - if DH can bring her over then that makes it more flexible for you. You may find you prefer that rather than having to express - you may get quite uncomfortable if you miss feeds.

we're having a trial run at this tomorrow..eeek!

dd won't take a full feed from any type of cup/bottle etc, will only sip a little. she's 7 months now and well onto her solids. so we've decided to bite the bullet. i'm going out all day, DH is having her and that's that!

I think I need to develop a bit of the thats that attitude by Monday!!! Dizzybinterwonderland-is your lo used to having many feeds in the day or is it mainly morn and eve?

no she has lots of feeds in the day. the solids seem to be extras rather than replacements. however, when i have gone out without her she turns her nose up at anything more than a sip from a cup. she just waits til i get home and fills up from me then. so we need to see what happens if i'm out longer than say 5 hours.

from what i've read on here, a lot of babies happily wait til they see their mum and just go the day on solids and water.

Mummy, mine went all day with only food and water at 28 weeks.

She will take it if she is hungry.

Right, thats it, I am going to stop worrying and just go with the flow on monday. There will be expressed milk and formula in the cupboard, so like you have said if she is hungry she will take it. At least she likes her food and water.

aww bless you for remembering. i posted on breast and bottle feeding about it earlier.

it went really really well. she drank from the bottle bless her! dh did so well, he's very pleased with himself.

now we're going to try again tomorrow to see if it still works with me popping in and out.

anyway, main thing is she's done it, so i have a bit of freedom now, and i don't need to worry about her at nursery.
