Infant feeding

14 weeks and still struggling!

14 week old and just not happy
Since day one my little girl has been a very fussy eater. She used to dry gag and cough a lot and the doctor prescribed infant Gaviscon for suspected silent reflux.

The health visitor also suggested sma comfort milk. Now she is 14 weeks, she no longer has the Gaviscon. But she still can only take about 3 ounces every two hours! This is day and through the night.

The minute she unlatches from the bottle, she will not take it back so I will feed her until she stops naturally.

At night she never settles, constantly fidgetting and whimpering all night. I'm reaching breaking point! It's as if something is just bothering her, she can't settle the poor thing

Should she still be on the comfort milk at this age after so long?

I forgot to add that the doctor also suggested she could have a milk allergy as she was quite wheezy after every feed and still is. She was prescribed Nutrimegen which I try for a day she wouldn't take it so stop giving her it. Should I have tried longer?

Both my DD had bad reflux as babies, and neither of them liked laying down because I think it made them really uncomfortable. The older one in particular was very restless at night and a bad sleeper. And also not a great feeder (although she was BF). She was prescribed medicines called dom peridone and ranitidine - which I think did ease things a bit, so maybe that's something you could ask your health visitor or doctor about? They both seemed to get a bit better once they could sit and stand (an exersaucer was a brilliant toy for us, as it holds them upright). I've no experience with milk allergies - but that seems worth looking into more too. Hope she feels better soon.
