Teat Size for newborn

Hiya,
I'm preparing stuff for my baby who's due in December. He'll be my second child.
With the first I was planning to Breast feed and when in hospital had to bottle feed. the teats they gave us were medium flow and they said we should continue to use medium flow when we went home. But everything I've read suggests I start on a slower flow.
It was fabulous having him settled on to a medium flow so soon as we could do a whole night feed and back to sleep in 20 minutes.

does anyone else have experience of going straight to a faster flow?
thanks in advance
katy

I used avent bottles for my dd1 and went straight to stage 2 teats, and I have got the same for the baby I'm having tomorrow. I think the slow flow are a waste of money they would only last about a month and need replacing, the baby won't know any different so should be fine on the faster flow

I would try a vari flow as this will allow baby to go at their own pace. Found these to be the best for DD1 as she seemed to be between teat sizes

Scbu reccomended fast flow teats to me and my babies took their milk much more efficiently with them.

I would also try vari flow. It doesn't matter what ones though in terms of lasting, you are supposed to replace teats every 6 weeks anyway. So those for newborn need replacing by 6 weeks old anyway. Due to the silicone breaking down when washed

My DS is five weeks. I found he posseted a lot more on size 2 teats. It seems to be more comfortable for him to do things slowly.
