Trying to pump

I had my second baby last Friday; haven't been successful latching him but tried to keep stimulating through nipple shields. I'm certainly milk has come in-y boobs are hard and sore so I have been trying to pump with an electric pump. Nothing is coming out apart from teeny amounts of colostrum - can I do anything toove the milk along?

Or is it not there yet or am I not making it? Getting a bit upset as has this with dd1 but pumping worked and I got a fair bit of breast milk out for her

I am not an expert at all, but I was wondering when you're pumping? I found I couldn't pump in the afternoons at all in the early days, there was barely anything there! But first thing in the morning pumping was much more successful.

Thanks, I've been trying this afternoon so if no luck I'll try in the morning. They're so sore I was sure it would start flowing

Some gentle hand massage to soften the breast before trying to attach? Hand expressing, you are doing well try not to worry too much as worry can impede your let down. Are you exclusively breast feeding?

Get in a warm shower if you can and do some massage in there to get some milk off.

Thanks I'll try the shower. He's having formula and I'm doing a Breast feed with shields at every feed too. Worked last time but perhaps not this time. ..????
