Painful let-down.

No, not the latest 'I'm a Celeb.....'

I mean a really painful let-down, and this is my fourth breast-fed baby. Is there anything I can do to lessen it?

I remember that feeling bubble. Will try to remember because there was something that helped but for the life of me I can't remember what it was!

Will sleep on it!

Paracetamol before a feed?

Are you sure it is just letdown? Does the pain go as soon as the milk is flowing? If so you will probably find it will settle down over the next week or so as your milk production sorts itself out. If it is painful thoughout the feed it could be the start of thrush - you will have has antibiotic shot at your C/S which can make you prone.
Hope it is the former though and just over zealous boobies getting to grips with the job.

You could try breathing techniques like those for labour or use visualising techniques.

Congratulations again BTW.

Thing is, mears. This little one is a 'frequent flyer' at the moment. So I couldn't reallly time Paracetamol before feeds, IYSWIM.

BTW. My blood loss, which had tailed off since the CS, did a weird thing yesterday. I had a 'gush' of old blood. Quite a lot, enough to soak three STs in an hour. It's been followed by a small amount of fresh/ bright red blood.

I'm not too worried as it seemed to me that it must have been a 'pocket' of old blood around the internal wound. Does that sound right to you?

And no, it's not painful at all once LO starts feeding.

I have a painful let down too. I find that folding my arms tightly across my chest helps a bit. It was like this last time too, and did eventually settle down...

I had the same kind of bleeding and I didn't have a C/S. I think it is more due to having a floppy well used uterus!! It should settle down again. It might be related to feeding too.
You could try regular paracetamol or brufen (or both) just till the pain settles. It will do.

That's it glowworm!
Push your other side firmly.
I always found let down worse on the side that I was not feeding on

Oh well, I'm pleased to hear that it's not just me. It bloomin' well hurts doesn't it.

Mears, I am shaking my head sadly in agreement with the 'floppy, well-used uterus' thing, too.
