Hi I'm wondering if anybody has any experience or advice on Relactation?
I breastfed my now 9 weeks old DD and stopped breastfeeding at about 3/4 weeks old due to bleeding nipples (even with good latch) tried using nipple shields which she was fine with at the time but now isn't interested, I now want to breastfeed again as I feel utterly guilty that I gave up so soon. I have tried to latch her on several times and have had her latch on properly twice without shields. I have tried pumping and got a drop or two from each breast which my health visitor says is positive. I am doing lots of skin to skin contact and have just hired a hospital grade dual pump to see if I can bring back some more milk to encourage her to latch more often. I have also been drinking fenugreek mothers milk tea but not sure how well this works. My husband is in the navy and so I am on my own mon-fri completely. Need any advice or success stories anyone may have :-) x

Sorry I have no experience. If you can maybe see a lactation consultant as they would best advise. Google local ones or some will do telephone consultations.
if you do relactate you need some support with the latch as if your nipples are bleeding then you don't have a perfect latch-maybe tongue tie?
There is a good facebook group 'UK breastfeeding and parenting support'- they will have good advice.
It can be done but I have heard it is hard work. Domperidone can be prescribed by gp as side effect is lactation (although some are reluctant to precribe as not licensed for this).
Easier said than done but you have nothing to feel guilty about.
good luck x x

I've been looking into the same thing but fear it's too late for me as dd is now five months. I know the guilt and hate myself for stopping.

Good luck x
