Infant feeding

is it the end?

I don't know but I don't think I produced very much milk just now. Dd had been feeding for an hour and just getting very frustrated and squeezing my boobs with her hands and sucking her cheeks in but still wanted more. Does that mean my milk is drying up? I could hear her swallowing so there must have been something coming out

Sad I'm really sad. I'm waiting for the steraliser to finish so I can give her a bottle because she's clearly still hungry. Gutted.

Has anyone experienced this? She's only 7 months.

Sorry you are feeling like this. If you have been bf as usual in the recent past then you won't have dried up. Just put your baby to the breast again. My bet is all will be well. You might find you start a period in the next day or so. This sometimes has a very brief effect.

Thank you tiktok. I just gave her a bf now to see what happens and I was definitely producing something and she seemed satisfied afterwards so fingers crossed it was just because she was particularly hungry last night and needed a top up. I'm only feeding morning and night now but normally seem to have enough at each feed. Growth spurt possibly? I want to feed her forever if I can Grin

Aha :) now you say you are only feeding twice a day I do wonder if there is the start of a supply issue. Very well established bf of many months standing can certainly survive long term on a couple of feeds but seven months is maybe a little young for this. Can you consider maybe inserting another feed and then dropping back to twice a day in a few weeks?

The other possibility is the period one.

The thing is because I'm back in work I don't know how I'd squeeze in the feed. I could express.

I don't know what to do. It seems like the sensible and natural conditions to stop. She would be absolutely fine if we did stop I think. But I am heartbroken and I don't want to.

I am a stuck record to everyone in RL. I don't know why I'm finding it so hard.

It's making me think if it feels this bad the. it can't be the right thing to do.

If got a tummy bug today and haven't eaten anything or had much at all to drink so I probably won't have much to give her tonight.

I hate this. It's so hard to know what to do.

Your diet and fluid intake is irrelevant. Seriously. Don't fall for that myth! I think it will help to routinely add one or two more breastfeeds or expressions if you can.

Thank you tiktok I spent the day worrying about it and then just thought if I really don't want to stop then I shouldn't do it. She's enjoying it and I'm enjoying it.

You were right about the supply too. I didn't notice any different in supply. I think you may have been right about the period.

At 7mo I managed to fit in a post-work feed and a bedtime one as well as morning. Can you manage that?
I fed to 13mo before he stopped asking and I didn't bother offering anymore.
