Infant feeding

Did your mood & feelings go crazy when you cut down on breast feeds?

Hi

My 3rd & probably last dd is nearly 11 months & I have after much consideration decided to cut down on her breastfeeds. This was a very hard choice but I'm now back at work part time & I wanted some independence during the day. After a slow start she's taken very well to having 2 bottles during the day & I still feed her myself 1st thing in the morning & last thing at night.
So far so good but I just feel so low & emotional, is this related to the fact I'm not feeding her so much? Has any-one else felt like this?
I had to come home from work in the middle of the day today as my boobs were just leaking all the place so I had to change tops. I thought you were only meant to feel tearful & all over the place in the very early days! Any help or sympathy please!!!

I certainly felt exactly as you describe when I astopped bfing my dd. It lasted not longer than 2w, but was quite upsetting at the time. MN reassured me that it was normal, hormonal, and that I wasn't losing my marbles.

Hope you feel better soon!

Oh definately felt like that. With DS gave DH a few weeks warning so he would be prepared . DD's best friend's mommy also like this. She gave me warning when she cut down, so I could be ready with cups of tea & cake ( my DS 3 mths older than DD's BF's brother, so we see lots of each other)

OMG yes!! Each and every time ds dropped a feed, right from the very outset, a few days later I would feel totally low and tearful. It took a couple of times to notice the pattern, but it happened every time except when we stopped completely - ds self-weaned and I was in total denial, so by the time he stopped feeding he was taking so little that it made no difference, no depression, no engorgement, nothing! It was really weird and I never expected it, so plenty sympathy for you. It soon passed though, so hope you feel better soon x
