How many breastfeeds at 3 months?

I was a confident breastfeeder with my previous two dc but i seem to be doubting myself this time round.

I have a content little ds. Unlike my previous dc he seems fairly independent in that he soothes himself to sleep and isn't attached to me constantly. Consequently I'm now worrying about how little he seems to feed during the day. Today for example he's had three feeds. He's having wet and dirty nappies, seems happy, seems to be gaining weight (although he hasn't been weighed for weeks because the health visitors seem disinclined to weigh babies unless there's a problem).

He still feeds in the night though i can't put a number on the amount of times because we co-sleep and all the feeds seem to merge!

He must be getting enough if he's happy mustn't he? I just feels so different to my previous experiences of breastfeeding which is why i'm worrying myself.

I would think 3 feeds during the day does not seem very much at 3 months ( more like the number a 9-12 month would have) - but if he feeds all night then it might be fine. You could try offering more in the day which may reduce his night feeds!

All depends if he is gaining weight, hAppy, weeing etc :) and if your happy feeding all night.

He certainly seems happy. Weeing and pooing. Developing well - he's just started rolling. I'll try to offer more. We were out and about yesterday which is probably why it was so few. He's more interested in what's going on around him! My other two were more comfort sucklers and tended to need a lot of reassurance in the way of breastfeeds in new situations. He just seems so different yo them!

The night feeds don't bother me and i know feeding at night can keep supply up so i'm not looking to cut down on them yet.
