Eliminating formula top up!

2 week old DD has had a difficult start with feeding.

Having lost 20% body weight (midwives now querying whether first weight was accurate as she is well in herself!) ebf went out the window and breastfeeding was supplemented with expressed BM top up and formula top ups.

Dd will BF (using nipple shields - she has had a tongue tie cut and has a high palate so the shields were recommended) but rarely settles without the top up.

Any suggestions as to how I can wean off the top ups? Or will she do this herself as she gets bigger?

She is dc4 (others aged 6 and under) and I am finding all the sterlizing etc full on. I wanted to ebf to keep things simple but suddenly it's all rather time consuming!

Exclusive formula feeding is starting to look like the easier option and that is not what I want.

If anyone has any words of wisdom or suggestions, I would love to hear, please.

I found this page on Kellymom useful info for this:

We're in a similar situation and hoping to start coming off top ups later this week if weigh goes well. I'm working with a feeding consultant at the hospital and the plan from her is almost exactly as described at the link already posted.
Hope it goes well.
