HI, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME IM SOO CONFUSED ON WHAT TO DO!! I HAVE EXCLUSIVELY BREAST FED UP UNTIL 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN A FRIEND RECOMENDED TO FEED MY LITTLE ONE, 1 BOTTLE A NIGHT OF HUNGRY BABY MILK TO HELP HER SETTLE AND HOPEFULLY SLEEP A LITTLE LONGER. AND THIS WORKED AND SHE SEEMED SOOO MUCH MORE CONTENT AFTER THE BOTTLE. SO THEN I GAVE HER HUNGRY MILK THREW OUT THE NIGHT FOR A FEW NIGHTS AND HAVE EVEN STARTED GIVING HER HUNGRY MILK THREW THE DAY WITH A FEW BREAST FEEDS INBETWEEN. OBVIOUSLY MY MILK IS SLOWLY DRYING UP AND AM HAPPY TO FORMULAR FEED NOW BUT DO I STAY WITH THE HUNGRY MILK OR GO ONTO THE NORMAL FORMULAR? SHE HAS RUNNY ISH POO EVERY OTHER DAY (not quite sure if thats normal either) SORRY IF UR EATING UR BREAKIE BUT HER POO REALLY DOES LOOK LIKE KORMA SAUCE. ALSO SOMETIMES SHE SEEMS A LITTLE CONSTIPATED BUT SHE HAS LOTS OF WET NAPPIES. IF THERE IS ANYONE WHO CAN ADVISE ME ON WHAT TO DO, ID REALLY APPRECIATER IT

I think this might be one for your health visitor. As far as I am aware the only difference between the usual formula and hungry formula is that hungry formula is harder to digest (so it keeps them fuller longer). It is maybe quite a jump to go straight from breast milk to the hungry milk. As far the nappies, you would see s significant change between breast fed nappies and formula nappies anyway.

Again, I would speak to health visitor as it will depend on the age of your child. You have nearly switched to formula which is the hard part anyway as there isn't a lot of advice on this.

Good luck.

You're only supposed to really use hungry baby milk if recommended by a health visitor or Dr as it doesn't have any extra nutrition in but is supposed to keep them going for longer.

Try her on the regular formula and see how they go.

In this situation, if you're happy to stop breastfeeding and move to formula, then I would use the normal first infant formula. Hungry baby milk is not necessary. It has the same calories as first milk, but is apparently harder to digest. That's why it's supposed to make babies go longer between feeds. For me, if your baby is feeding in a normal pattern, then normal first milk is fine.

My formerly ebf baby (7 months) now has mainly breast milk plus solids and the odd bottle of formula.
Yup ... korma sauce poo! Grin

If she's straining there are comfort milks, but hungry baby milk is designed to fill/bulk them so I've heard it makes poo firmer. So as PP have said normal formula. Smile
