My dd is 6 months and the past few weeks has been behaving like a newborn, she wants to feed hourly, is windy and bringing up milk ( now she can move there are stains all over carpet! ) She also is sleepy more in the day (generally after a feed, in buggy or car) whinging and clingy. She isn't sleeping well and feeding more at night. she hasn't ever slept through as such but would previously accept that night time was for sleeping feed a couple of times but settle fairly quickly but now wants to play or moan at night.
I'm shattered and not sure what to do. Am i allowing her to feed to often? Is that increasing the wind? (too much foremilk?) Should i really push the solid, we are currently very relaxed blw, not offering food every day etc as she is only just 6 months. Should i start pacing feeds.
I think this all started after my fil died (5/6 weeks ago) as there was alot of sudden changes for her as we were staying with mil daily pattern out the window.
She has no teeth and has not been displaying obvious teething signs.

Littleducks, I am probably not going to be much help to you except to say that my dd's sleep and behaviour changed so much in the first year I found it impossible to understand the reasons for the change.

For example, she was windy from 5-11 weeks (waking up at night squirming and crying) and again after 4.5 months, tapering off at 5.5 months, with a resurgence at 6 months for 2 weeks. I too thought I might be feeding too often/too much foremilk but I did not think it was right for me to withhold the breast since it was comfort to dd in her pain. In the end, the wind resolved itself anyway.

Their little guts change so much, esp now you are introducing solids, it is no wonder they experience wind. Notice how their poo patterns also change. They just have to go through it.

At 6 months, your dd could be starting to teeth. I know you said your dd has not teething signs. But my dd suffered pre-teething pain for months before any sign of teeth emerged. Apparently, the teeth could be moving under her gums and causing a lot of discomfort. It could be a big factor in her night wakings and moodiness during the day.

See if giving your dd Calpol works?

Of course, it could be the change in your dd's routine. I hope things settle down for you soon.

Hun - my LO is 22 weeks and he is driving me nuts with his eating!! He is STARVING so i am rolling with it - he can barely go 3 hours between feeds and still wakes most nights for a feed (which he drinks like he hasn't been fed for 24 hours). I have just started weaning so he isn't eating enough to make a difference. It sounds like with your FIL passing away she may be picking up on some upset etc ... the best thing to do is try to stick to your routine as much as possible and offer cuddles and reassurance in the day ... keep night time dark and quiet and day more lively etc and i am sure LO will settle down again.
