Infant feeding

Baby starts with good latch but always moves to nipple feed..

As title really. She starts off well and eventually latches with a large mouth but after a few sucks almost always moves to a nipple feed. It's totally buggered my left breast (which I've put on hiatus while I feed solely from the right and express from the left) and I'm worried she's now going to do the same to my right.

Any tips for getting her to stay latched? The constant removal of her from my nipple and reattaching is getting painful too...

Tongue tie. If it has already been checked and discounted - have it checked again.

It's been checked and discounted by two separate midwives. I'm honestly not sure who Id even ask for a third opinion?

When you take her off, do you put your little finger in the side of her mouth to break the seal beforehand? This should make it less painful. It's frustrating , but you should do this as soon as she moves to the nipple and start again, every time, both to minimise further damage and help her learn what to do.

Can you find a local Baby Cafe or La Leche League group to go along to? They should be able to offer advice and check for tongue tie too.

Yes I break the seal properly. God only knows how sore it would be otherwise!!

Am going to see how I get on for a few days but if we're still sore by Friday I'll call either la leche or NCT.
