I thought I'd finished breastfeeding about a week ago as my 1 year old was taking more bottles. I gave myself a squeeze and nothing came out at all so figured I'd weaned her and run out of milk. I was a bit sad but seeing as I was giving more bottles with the aim of stopping eventually I was/am OK with it even though I wasn't emotionally ready.
So alls fine and fancy but now my left breast is suddenly very tender as if I've got mastitis. I'm pretty sure I've got no milk left as I've been squeezing every day just see.
Could it be that my milk hasn't gone? My baby used to feed with a nipple shield (owing to bottle preference in the early days) should I pop her back on or would that make things worse? Is it just wishful thinking?
Any advice? Sorry if this is all garbled!
