is formula ok out of fridge for nursery days?

Hi all. I am now mix bf and ff due to circumstance (been in hospital). Ds is nearly 9 months so eating 3 meals well and drinking water is good (But he downs his bottles too!) I bf him 4x a day but he's just starting nursery so need to give them 2 bottles of formula for mid morn and mid afternoon. Last week I gave them sterilised bottles and cartons as I wasn't sure what to do but that's obviously an expensive option. Should I make up bottles first thing then put them in thermal bag cold or hot? Will the one for 3.30pm be ok or should it be in the fridge at nursery?
I'm aware that the instructions on all formula say 2 hours out of fridge But know that mothers everywhere do things differently.
I don't want to risk poisoning ds but equally don't want to be worried into always using cartons as I see other mums out and about with bottles!
Also at what age do people drop the mid morn/afternoon milk for snacks and water?

Can you not provide nursery with a tub of formula powder and sterilised bottles to make up for feed times?

No, once made up the formula should either be used within an hour or cooled down fast and refrigerated until needed for up to 24hrs (the latter is 'old' advice but what most people do). I would ask the nursery, they'll be used to this. The nurseries we've seen either make up the formula themselves as needed, or have a fridge to store the bottles in.

All the nurseries I looked around had tubs of powder with babies name on (provided by parents) so they could make it up as and when needed. You just provide sterilised bottles each day

Hi my little one is in nursery and they told me to give bottles of boiled water with right amount of formula. So I fill bottles with 3 x 5oz of boiling water and then 3 x 5oz of formula and when they want the milk they heat the water and then mix. Ask ur nursery what's best for them xx

Kirstym that doesn't sound a great setup as the formula should always be made with hot water!

They do heat it up to temp rather than warm it, sorry wrong words xx

I'm sure if you take a can in and some sterilised bottles they will be happy to make them up. Think that's pretty standard for nurseries.

Thanks - I ended up giving them two bottled freshly made up then in a cool bag with ice packs to go straight in their fridge. That seemed to work so I guess I'll just do that and keep cartons for emergencies! Thanks for advice everyone .

I just fill 4 powder boxes with 7scoops (7oz feeds) and provide on bottle, the wash and steralise it after every use, and make the feeds up fresh.
