I wanted to post this thread so that others are not in the same situation we find ourselves in.

I started expressing and introducing the bottle to ds from a week old so that my dh could enjoy the pleasures of feeding and because I knew I had to go back to work. I had no probs with it at all and we were happily doing this on a once daily basis whilst we were at home.

We have recently returned from a few weeks hols when I didn't express as I didn't take the equipment with me and also just wanted a break from it. Ds is now 13 weeks old and is flatly refusing the bottle ( even went out and got the tommy tippee one) We have tried several times but know it's just about persistence.

Feel very disappointed as it's as if we never bottle fed at all and are back to square one.

If only I had known there was a risk of this happening - i would have made damn sure i continued expressing. Wanted to let all of you know to take your breast pumps with you if you go away for more than a cple of nights.

In the meantime, we will just keep trying! Fingers crossed

Yes,it's something a lot of us know about!
Never mind, time passes soon enough and pretty soon you'll be able to leave your babe a little longer anyway!

Amijee - this happened with dd the first time we went away I just bf'd and didn't take pump. It took a lot of perseverence when we got back but she did take a bottle again eventually. At 5/6 months old we went away again and she had 7 bottle free days but this time went back on to ebm with no problem - so hopefully might be easier for you when ds is older

Hi Amijee
I found the same happened with my DD as I stopped expressing as DP was on nights so no-one to give her bottle anyway so thought why bother!
But persisted again with bottles and she did take them again! She is now 18weeks and happily feeds from bottles or boob!!
I found she would take bottle of any one other than me for a while (think she could smell my milk!) So give it a try!
Def worth persisting as it gives you a much deserved break!!
