Infant feeding

Can I have a night off BFing without screwing up my supply

DS 5 months, mix fed and after a very shaky start we have finally got to point where I have cut down formula from at least 50% of his intake to a 4-5oz bottle in the evening (which I don't intend to drop).

In the throws of sleep regression at the moment and he is feeding a lot at night - I don't actually think he is truly hungry most of the time but putting him on the boob is the least traumatic way to get him back to sleep.

I long for an unbroken night's sleep - I'm seriously thinking of checking into a local hotel for night, having a bath and a looong sleep and leaving DH with some bottles of formula to see us through from the last feed before bedtime (about 7pm) til mid morning feed (11am). But after I've battled for five months with feeding plans, domperidone, fenugreek etc, the very last thing I want to do is bugger up my supply. What do you think?

You can yes, but you may find yourself incredibly uncomfortable due to the build up of milk in your breasts. I did it few times when I wanted to have a drink, my supply was fine, but it was a little painful with massive boobs!

Should be fine, you could express a little for comfort and supply.

Take an electric pump and go for it.

Good idea, I could have a quick pump before bed and one on waking then I'm not really skipping more than one feed. Now I just need to convince DH!
