what type of breastpad to use?

Hi there. Am new to mumsnet, and expecting twin boys in the next few weeks. Was wondering what type of breast pad to go for? the paper ones look so itchy. Cotton ones look comfy but do not have waterproof backing, so would they leak? Has anyone tried the new lillypad ones (rubber reusbale ones)? they look good but am not sure if they would make you sweat. Any advice appreciated! Many thanks.

i use disposable pads, usually tesco or boots own
found them comfortable and haven't had a problem with them
i found the cotton ones very bulky and noticeable under clothes

I liked the johnson's ones - stayed in place and didn't get soggy and bunched up. I think you have to try a few different types.
Personally, I found resusable ones useless.

I never found disposable ones itchy, though in the first weeks of engorgement they did leak. Once that settled I found lasinoh v comfy and thin, but big so sometimes popped up above clothing , and Johnson&Johnson and avent ones were fine too. HTH and good luck!

I thought lansinoh were the best - didn't show through clothes

brilliant, thanks for that. I think I'll give the disposables a go.

another vote for the Johnson and Johnsons - the tesco branded ones were too shapeless and bulky - the lansinoh were too big for me! J and J have been fab -

although I was also interested in using the lillipad ones as well - anyone tried these?

Disposable was best for me. I used mostly Tescos.
The cotton ones aer not as comfortable as you might think, and although they didn't leak, using Lasinoh on my nipples left the pads waterproof!
I also broke my washing machine with them (if you use them, they really do have to go in a net bag, or they will block the pipes in your machine)

I loved the Toys R Us ones and couldn't use any others

I love the johnson&johnson disposable ones! Discreet, stay in place and feel nice and soft. Use them when I go out. At home I use mothercare or boots ones as they are much cheaper (5month DD and still need loads of breast pads!)

johnsons and johnsons disposables were best for me. they are more expensive than boots etc but i was finding with the own brands that i was having to double them up so major false economy!

Defo lansinoh, i used to leak loads of milk and tried all the other brands on here plus washable ones. only prob is lansinoh are so expensive and i had to use one set in the day and one set in the night. pleased to report that from DD being about 5mths old now dont leak hardly at all so have just started using washable cos am a recycling fan in other areas of life.
