Infant feeding

Newborn - getting past the 1 or 2oz every hour or two stage....

Remind me when it happens? DD was a 3hrly 2-3oz baby from the get go.

DS is three days old and having 1oz, little hour break then another 1oz, or, in the nicer gaps, 2-2.5oz then a 2 hour gap.

He has conveniently decided that the longer gaps are for daytime and the shorter ones are for night time Grin

At the moment Im just going with the flow (I know thats how it should be done really),and offering milk whenever he needs but its a lot of bottle prep! And a bit of a shock after dd.

He also seems to prefer not being swaddled, which dd loved. Dont mind that at all though - he is a sleep addict at the moment.

I am having the same problem... Am a first time mum and breast fed for the first 4 days but I just could not continue as I just wasn't feeling well enough. So I switched to aptimil late on the night of day 4. So far she has 2oz in the morning around half 9 - 10 ish which has been consistent the last 4 days :) but in the evenings she gets unsettled and for maybe 3/4 hours she has little bits here and there. Last night she had 2oz at 10pm then didn't wake all night I tried a few times but she was having none of it she was just content I managed to get her to have 1oz at 4am then a half of at 06:20 then she had an oz at 09:40 which she throw all up and at 10:00 took 2 oz an is sleeping now. Was that long of a gap at night oky? She was only 2oz below birthweight yesterday and is 8days old today. I need reassurance lol

Don't know the amount as BFIng, bit mine got better by day 6 or 7. More regular.

She's now 5 weeks, feeds 3 hourly in the day and more spaced out at night though loves a mammoth cluster feed on evenings there's tv or chores 8-11pm

Mine both breastfed but in day was every hour until about 8 weeks I think. But that did mean they slept 11pm-8am very quick

Have you considered using the pre made bottles for a few weeks? I think you can keep them in fridge 24hrs once opened, so can just decant a little at a time. Maybe the small ones for another week (200ml in each), and large ones are 1lter I think. The small 200ml would last 3/4 small feeds atm

I'd get the ready made litre bottles too.

DS2 was breastfed but fed at least every 2 hours day and night for about 8 weeks.
