Lop-sided engorgement solution for bfing?

I had DS2 on Thursday evening so we are now on day 5, my milk having come in yesterday...Now I'm looking for some help/advice now as I've got issues. Haha!

My left boob is so full and sore but my right boob is moreorless fine now. I've been expressing a bit off both sides to ease a bit of tightness over the last 48hrs. Do you think I'd be best not expressing and just biting the bullet, maybe even skipping one or two feeds on the left side to try and convince it to stop making more milk?

Personally I found expressing just added to the problem as the extra stimulation send the milk into overdrive. Skipping feeds isn't necessarily going to be helpful either. Because you're not letting the breasts know the ACTUAL amount of milk the baby requires the milk supply can get confused and take longer to settle down, filling up even more at first.

When I was engorged with my second baby, I forced myself to feed alternately (with sometimes an extra feed to relieve the bigger breast when it was getting super sore). This way the breasts got the right amount of feedback and were able to catch up and supply the right amount of milk. It doesn't happen instantly, maybe a few days, but I found it quicker than the first time when I tried to override it with skipping feeds/expressing etcetera (the engorgement lasted for weeks that way and the unevenness kept swapping sides).

Having said that, it may just be that engorgement clears up quicker with the second baby as your body has done it all before.

Hope it sorts itself out very soon, engorged breasts are truly awful!

My boobs were uneven but my mw said feed as usual. Within a week or so thet were much more even. As Jess says I was advised fiddling too much might make it worse. I found they leaked abd I'd give a quick squeeze to take the edge off but not express as such- luckily I have a greedy little darling! So not too much pain!
