So DS is 9 days old and we are EBF. He managed to gain weight and he feeds really quite well. Except that he feeds, comes off looking a bit drunken and generally content. Then proceeds to pour milk from his mouth and nose. It's not curdled or yellowy at all. It is as if it hasn't touched his stomach IFYSWIM?
He doesn't seem in pain when he does this. Sometimes it is quite forceful - it went over a metre earlier!
He does appear to be stuggling with wind, he doesn't cry much, but whines and makes faces. He really wriggles and whines when pooing or farting. And then promptly falls asleep the second he's done it. It's a struggle to get the wind out of him.
His latch isn't wonderful, lots of milk escapes out the sides and I feel he draws in air as he doesn't get far enough behind the nipple and he can come off in a lazy manner.
I want to help him cope better, I do have a fast let down. I also would like to not have to change him, myself and everything around us several times a day!! We run out of baby grows and my clothes constantly and don't have a tumble drier!!
Just for context; my dd (now 2) was an amazing feeder, she struggled with wind but didn't vomit. We used infacol with her for a few months.

Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks

What does your midwife say? Can you video this and show your midwife tomorrow?

It could be a number of things.

my DS did similar, the MW said it was because he was born quickly so not all of the waters and other gross stuff was squeezed out of him in the birth canal. This was just his way of getting it up.

I'd ring your MW and ask though, just for your own piece of mind

He has only started this in the last couple of days. I called midwife and they said elevate him at night for wind purposes and possibly infacol. Maybe express off a little so he doesn't get the rush of let down. And just review with each feed.

mw comes again on Thursday so will see how we go

I have a 'happy sicker' - for 5.5 months he just more or less constantly dripped sick. The health visitors kept sending me to the GP who said that as he was really well in himself and was gaining weight, although slowly, it wasn't necessary to give him medication if I wasn't worried about it. I was glad he'd been checked by the GP though. His weight gain started shooting up from about 12 weeks but he continued puking copiously (if anything more copiously) for several more months. However it never came out of his nose, he was generally a contented happy baby, no signs of wind or discomfort, and it was never forceful, so I think I would get advice to see if there's anything that can be done to make him more comfortable, even if you still have an ongoing laundry problem.... I always had two sets of clothes for me, one scruffy set for wearing at home and getting sicked on and one for putting on at the last possible minute before leaving the house. I also cut up some plain cotton sheets and used them to line the pram so I didn't have to take out the actual pram bedding.
