How to cope with possible reflux?

Hi, first time on MN. We have a 2 week old baby boy who up until the last 2 days has been very good, however since yesterday evening he has completely changed :( he will no longer settle down in his mose's basket and is constantly showing classic signs of hunger but unlike before he does not settle down after a feed. He seems to be choking when laid on his back although he does not bring up any milk. We were so concerned last night that we called 111 and they despatched an ambulance to us, no joy getting a midwife/ health visitor/ doctor appointment so resorted to A and E this morning as he was so listless and weak. They have suggested that he may be suffering from reflux which causes breathing issues and the blue tinge around his lips and said that we should either cut back the amount of milk he is having per feed (combination of expressed and Cow and Gate) or stretch out the feeds from 90min to 3 hours! He is now crying for milk constantly and we are at our wits end and dreading trying to get through another night with zero sleep. Any help is appreciated x

OK - my third child had reflux. Go see your gp and get a paediatrician referral. If you can, bf only (and try to go dairy free to see if it helps ,- it massively helped ds3). Use a sling as much as possible and baby bouncer, feed in a more upright position, try dummies (can really help reflux babies), use a bouncer and a wedge in cot/carrycot and never put him down flat on his back after a feed (ideally keep upright for 40 mins plus post feed). Ds3 was on meds till 6 months but once on solids his reflux massively diminished - he's now 14 months and the early reflux days are a distant memory. Hang on in there x
