Infant feeding

Do I let him sleep?? (1 mo. old)

Need advice! First time mum and DS was one month yesterday.

We've had feeding issues from the start. He wouldn't latch so I was pumping and bottle feeding. We found out at three weeks that he had a thick posterior tongue tie and we're able to have it corrected right away.

A week later he took to the breast with nipple shields and just Friday he started latching without.

He generally eats every 2hr and has been putting on weight very steadily from the start. No issues with wet/dirty nappies.

He's now been sleeping since 1am, and hasn't fed since 11-11:30. I've tried a bit of everything, including changing his nappy, but he's still just sleeping and refusing to feed.

Do I let him continue to sleep through?? Or do I force the issue with a bottle feed?

Thank you in advance, I'm unsure and tempted to just let him sleep and trust that he'll let me know when he's hungry.

I'm no expert but my daughter did a couple of five hour sleeps at night around that age, in fact she was younger, and the health visitor said not to wake her and she'd wake when she was hungry.

If your son doesn't have any weight or any other health issues I would assume it'd be ok to wait until he wakes himself to feed him. I think the only issue would be if he's not gaining weight or was born early

I think it's fine but you know he will latch on his sleep, he doesn't need to be awake to feed. I would probably try that but only because I was prone to blocked ducts etc
