Acid reflux or milk allergy? Help!

Hi all, my 7 week old DS has started to cry and squirm after every feed and also being sick after every feed. At first it was just a little bit of sick but now it's quiet a lot and a few times after his feed. He also hates laying down after a feed and seems to squirm even more.

We've tried infacol but this doesn't seem to work, infact when he does have it he seems to poo a lot more which is odd as I didn't think it was digested in the gut.

He is on Cow and Gate first infant milk.

If anyone can offer any advice it would be great because I hate seeing DS uncomfortable and sometimes it seems like it pain.

hey.
could be both.... think 50% of babies that have cmpi also have reflux.
there is alot of posts on mn indicating cutting out cmpi improves reflux a fair bit

Cows' milk protein intolerance - dairy allergy. If it is that you can get formula that is formulated specially for these types of intolerance.

My dd was similar to your baby around 8 weeks. My GP gave her infant Gaviscon, which worked brilliantly, but then it gave her really bad constipation. However it did clear up the reflux - might be worth trying the Gaviscon.

My dd is now 11 weeks and it's gone now, probably to do with her digestive system maturing. I sympathise as it's awful watching them twist and squirm and then throw up a feed they've worked so hard to get. Hope he is better soon!

i tried gaviscon first but as bf found it too difficult to administer and caused bad constipation. then tried ranitidine which worked great.
however cutting dairy from my diet has also helped (bf) if you are ff there are special milks you can get that don't contain cmp
