Infant feeding

Baby bringing up milk after feed

Am bottle feeding my baby and just recently after his feeds he's bringing some if it back up. How do I know what's normal and when he's actually vomiting/suffering? Worried he's not getting enough food now if he's bringing some up - does any one have any experience or advice?

Babies often bring back milk - mostly it's not a problem. How old is your baby? The ypunger the baby, the more likely they are to bring some of their milk, and sometimes all of it, back :) In a baby who's healthy and gaining weight, it's nothing to worry about - though it can get messy. What does your HV say?

I've not seen her (the health visitor) since it started happening, baby is 3 weeks...

I would get some real life advice as tik tok says but my (breastfed) baby has spent his 4 months more or less constantly dripping sick (I exaggerate slightly but only slightly...) Holding him very still after his feeds helps a bit but he can't spend all day still so we just do lots of laundry! To my great disgust he now attempts to eat it again if I don't clear it up quickly enough and it's sitting on his bib in front of him.... He's definitely getting enough food as he's recently shot up from the 0.4 to the 25th centile even though sometimes it seems like there can't be anything left in there! We've been to the GP a few times on the instructions of the health visitors and I'm glad he's been checked but as he's happy and gaining weight they're not worried.
