Painful wind

My 5 w/o has terrible wind which is really distressing her. It causes her to writhe around in pain and scream before passing the most enormous farts. It happens at anytime of day - she's just had a really bad couple of hours. We've tried infacol which did nothing. I wind her after feeds but rarely get anything up. She's EBF.

I know wind is normal but she seems so uncomfortable and distressed. Any suggestions to help relieve it?

I have just started a dairy and soya free diet as my 7 week old is the same. He is also suffering from silent reflux. He is still farting but I don't think it is as painful for him as he isn't screaming and writhing so much.

I feel your pain. It is awful to see them like that and feel so helpless!

Have you tried different winding methods?
Mine always did the bigger burps when laid across my arm. So head in the crook of my arm and bum in hand face down. Then rub their back whilst swinging them gently backwards and forwards.

Or when they seem in pain, try moving their legs in a bicycling motion. Often helps to move trapped wind

Try some tummy massage, I taught myself using YouTube videos. It's helped my ds, as did visiting an osteopath. Only wish I'd gone sooner as I thought he'd grow out of it but he didn't and a soy and dairy free diet made no difference to him. We had 3 visits to the osteopath, and now do massage every morning and evening, plus a warm bath every other night
