Lost milk due to norovirus

I am on day four of norovirus, or at least that's what I think I have!!

I started with sickness, then upset tummy, fever, sweats. I haven't been sick for two days but the impact it has had on breastfeeding is worrying me.

Baby is EBF and 15 weeks.

Initially I felt like I had lost my milk. Breasts lost fullness, no let down was felt and my 15 week old baby cried when I tried to feed him. Despite feeling shocking I carried on and kept offering the breast. Now on day 4 I am beginning to feel a weak let down but it happens after at least 3-4 mins in rather than in the first 30 secs like usual. Baby is producing set nappies but not as many as usual. I tried offering formula, he hates the bottle and took 15 ml!!

Am ironing the right thing? Will it return to normal? Help.....

I'm sorry your feeling so rough.
My understanding is if you can keep hydrated, you will keep making milk.
Kellymom may well have some official guidance - I need to take the kids to school. Will look when I get back for you.

Yes it will return. You are doing the right thing - just keep feeding!

Well done for still feeding, your body will provide the nutrient s for your baby but if you aren't eating and drinking, he may feed differently ie more frequently. Your milk supply Will return to normal when you start to eat and drink normally in the meantime your baby's receiving all the anti bodies to stay well. Hope you feel better soon x

Others have got there first, but I said I'd be back.
So, kellymom says keep feeding more frequently than normal if anything.
NHS also says to keep feeding, and drink plenty of liquids

Hope your feeling more human soon, and baby benefits from your antibodies and doesn't get ill.

Thank you for all your responses!!

I shall carry on as I am and hope I feel better soon. I had hoped that by day 4 I would feel much better but I am optimistic that I might feel more myself tomorrow!!

Now, just to convince the family that breastfeeding is worth continuing. They have been nagging me to stop as the baby is "draining me" grrr!!! Obviously, I am not listening to them and carrying on regardless :)))
