Feeling like in failing breastfeeding with dc3

He's gaining well, 91st centile, feeds well sometimes. But then keeps having bad feeds that have lots of suction breaking mid flow, clicking, choking, taking too much air resulting in tummy ache and wind.
He's so gassy HmmHmmHmm

How old is he?

Weight gain since birth?

Have you had your latch and positioning checked by a bf counsellor or similar?

Has he been checked for tongue tie?

It could be a number of things - a slight change in positioning will help with taking down less air. Clicking could indicate tongue tie. Choking and spluttering could indicate a fast let down.

This is a Kelly mom link on fast let down which is common and easily rectified with a few tweaks to your positioning.

Congrats by the way Smile You are certainly not failing.

Don't forget the helplines you can call - BfN and La Leche league have bf helplines - professional people who will be able to give advice.

Tongue tie would be my immediate suspicion. See someone who knows about these. It took many visits to bf counsellors who kept dismissing my dd's feeding but that was exactly the problem.

Sorry I've written in bits, currently trying to comfort my boy who is over tired, not wanting to feed properly and gassy.

Going to try colief or gripe water? Think I should?

I know it's hard to compare but he seem so much more fussier than my girls were. I had mastitis and pain for two months with them but with him he just seems unsettled in some feeds after feeds too and sooooo gassy

Over supply.

That's what sounds like.

Easily dealt with. Block feeding for a few days usually fixes it. You may have to increase the blocks and to keep it up for a while.

OK but my bf counsellor and lactation consultant said no tongue tie. Dd's was posterior (?) So harder to spot. Her tongue could poke out but since snipped she can really poke it out!

I also had over supply but block feeding didn't sort it.

Do you wind after each feed? I found lying dd across my lap on her left hand side and gently moving my thighs could get a lot of wind up.

Also if he has thrush then he could be finding feeding difficult. I assume both of you are being treated?
