7 week old with constipation

Any advice from experienced Mumsnetters? DS son has gone from having 4 poos a day to one every two days. It's been going on for a week now. He's really distressed, is straining and grizzling constantly and none of us are sleeping a wink. The doctor was pretty dismissive (I think he thought i was a neurotic mother) and told me to let nature take it's course.

We've tried tummy massage, giving him warm water in a bottle, warm baths, switching his usual formula to the 'comfort' formula. Nothing is helping. Have completely run out of ideas. Help!

If you'll forgive the question, what's the poo like when he does go?

Pretty runny actually - although i've heard that can be a sign of constipation too.

Hmmm, it can be I think, although if it is soft and yellowy then it's probably ok.

If he's still very distressed all the time and obviously struggling with pooing, then I would go back to the GPs and discuss it again. Maybe video him when he's showing the symptoms so the GP can see it for themselves.
