Can someone please help me. I am BF my 12month old and has cracked nipples for ages now. It started with his teething at first ( not sure of any relation) and lasted for two-three months. It is back again now and is so worse, with redness around the nipples and itching, feeding is very painful. I have a rash of little red spots over my breast and it is very itchy especially in the night. Nipples are so cracked along the lines and looks like it is going to fall off. Sorry tmi. Does anyone have any advice as I dont want to stop feeding (as DD2 has CMPA) but I dont know how much longer I can take this as My GP is not helping me much other than asking me to look after myself and stop feeding. Also, i have itchy vagina for the past two days. Could this be thrush? If yes, what should i do now? I was on phone with gp umpteen times and dnt want to plead anymore??????. Thanks

You could phone a bf helpline? Speak to the local Infant Feeding Co-ordinator? Can you make an appt with a different GP? Speak to a pharmacist?

Could be thrush or could be a bacterial infection. I had similar open wounds for 6 weeks and took 2 courses of antibiotics to fix.
Ask GP to swab the area and test for infection. In the meantime you can get canestan over the counter which was what they prescribed me and you can feed on so you could always try it?
