bath, bottle, bed - what to do when teeth come through?

At the moment my dd (3m) has a bath, bottle, bed routine which works very well. however when her teeth start to come through and therefore need to be brushed before bed, will i need to change this routine? She is normally very sleepy after her feed and if i brush her teeth afterwards, surely this will wake her up. This may be a very stupid question but it's realy starting to worry me! Any advice anyone?

Don't worry about it too much...

I had exactly the same conundrum when ds starting teething..at that sort of age he was sooo sleepy after his nightime bottle that I didn't want to disturb him by popping a toothbrush in his mouth!

TBH (and at the risk of disapproving tuts!) I have only recently started to really work brushing teeth into the bedtime routine and DS is nearly 1yo and have 4.5 teeth. Previously if he was a bit awake after teh bottle we'd pop into the bathroom on teh way to bed and do his teeth. If he was practically asleep already we wouldn;t bother. Now he is usually awake enough at bedtime after his bottle that a quiet few minutes in the bathroom don't disturb him.

Try getting your dd used to the toothbrush now, give her the brush to 'gum' during a bath for example, so when you come to actually 'use' it it is less of a novelty...

I skipped the teeth bit as my dd always fell asleep on the breast.
But there might be someone more responsible than me with a different approach!

although i have problems brushing DS 2 teeth as he hates it, i have been using a teething cloth lately, i tend to brush after his bath but before his last breastfeed as he is still feeding in the night so i just think as long as his teeth get brushed at some point its better than nothing
