breastfeeding thrush - daktarin gold - can i use it?

I am sure that this is the cream i used last time...
daktarin gold (ketoconazole 2%)..

It is just going on about athlete's foot and dhobi itch

Pretty sure i can.....

anyone know?

I don't know about the 'Gold' bit but I'ver certainly used Dakatarin for thrush. It's more or less the same as Canesten isn't it?

i have used daktarin before and canesten

sent dh out and he has brought daktarin gold back...

actually - would nhs direct know
or would i be better ringing breastfeeding counsellor...
can feel it getting worse

I would go for the bf counsellor first. They have a better specific knowlege and they really don't mind being phoned up. That's why they are bf counsellors.

I use daktarin oral gel and for baby's mouth too. If you use the cream would you have to wash it off before feeding??
I saw a doc today who actually believed in breast thrush !!

I have the daktarin cream for my nipples (gel for DS2's mouth), and was advised to wash it off before bfing due for taste reasons. The leaflet says it would be safe to ingest it orally anyway.

Only reason leaflet doesn't mention fungi on breast because to be sold 'over the counter' it isn;t licensed for that indication. Will be fine though as identical to prescription stuff.
