24 weeks pregnant and in pain - is a blocked duct possible?

Hi everyone,

I am 24 weeks pregnant with DC2. DD, now 3.3, self weaned in September last year, so I haven't breastfed now for approx. 10 months.

Throughout this pregnancy, my boobs have been pretty sore and achy. I have started to leak a little colostrum...I only noticed because my nipples seemed a little crusty sometimes, so I had a little squeeze a couple of weeks ago and some colostrum leaked.

This morning when I woke up my boobs were achy as usual, however, they seem sorer than usual and my left one is actually really sore, to the point of it being unbearable to touch. The pain seems to be right behind my nipple. It is a sharp pain to touch and is even painful just when I brush past it. Tonight I tried squeezing the sore area and it was pretty painful, however, quite a lot of colostrum came out.

I'm not sure why I squeezed it - the pain is a little similar to previous blocked ducts when I was breastfeeding, although they were much further back and deeper into my breast.

So I guess my question is - is it possible that I may have a blocked duct already? I didn't think that it was possible? If this is not the problem then any ideas what could be causing the pain...or is it just pregnancy related?

Thanks in advance for any advice or info.

:)

I'm afraid I don't know about this, but there was a similar thread a little while ago - there might be some useful information on there for you. I hope it resolves soon.
