Infant feeding

Please(!!!!) tell me about your lovely nursing bras

I am trying to find a nursing bra that is practical (nude coloured), comfortable and pretty.

I want to look attractive, not like a 1940s gym mistress

However, I am struggling. I thought I'd cracked it with the Amoralia Second Skin but they have sold out in my size (34E).

I want my boobs kept round the front, so nothing too much like a crop top. I don't even mind underwires. I have looked all over the place and had no luck.

HELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (please)

After expensive failure (uncomfy, didn't fit well, looked crap) with 4 bras from various places, I got a couple of the Anita underwired ones from Figleaves.

This one

and

this one.

I'll never go back to anything else. They are really comfy and give me the same shape I had pre-pregnancy. I'm a 34 FF and non-wired bras were hopeless.

Just watch out for the sizing as they are European so you need to convert the cup size (the site will help you with this).

Buy a normal (wired) bra and convert it!

Honestly, clips cost about a fiver (try Ebay) and it only takes a few minutes with a needle and thread - I've done a handful of bras now and it's pretty easy (though you may need a thimble for thicker straps).

Nude clips are admittedly harder to come by than black and white so you might consider cannibalising a bra for the clips - I bought one at Mothercare which was good for nothing better in the sale for around a fiver, so less than the cost of a conversion kit.

I used Hot Milk. I found a lingerie shop that sold them, got measured and bought the only style and colour they stocked, then I ordered every other colour available from a New Zealand company called....Breastmates. The NZ company were very helpful and postage was not prohibitive. I still look at those pretty bras in my drawer knowing I will never wear them again but cannot bring myself to throw them away. It did make a difference to wear feminine and pretty underwear while bf'ing. I didn't feel quite so bovine!

I swear by the Anita underwires as well, I'd be slightly hinky about using a regular underwire early on unless I was sure it fitted really well and didn't put pressure on the ducts. Though am intrigued by the conversion idea!

Bravado original design is mega comfy, changes as your size does and they sell in various colours. I love them x

Elle McPherson sadly made me look like I was wearing a bandage. :(

Ooh, that's a great idea! It wouldn't have occurred to me to convert a bra! I'll have to try that. Thank you!

I also convert my bras. It was a revelation.
