teacup did things improve for you? As your symptoms sound very similar to what I'm experiencing at the moment. I totally get the 'heartburn in breast!'.

Just curious as whether I need to try antibs or not.

Well after the quickest and briefest of appointments, with no actual examination and very little chat, I have emerged with antibiotics.

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the advice

Thank you all.

Not convinced its thrush but have slight tingling in left breast as of today.

Have made appointment with GP for this afternoon

Moist healing. 5 days after a very large blister and blockage and its beginning not to feel like a 'raw' blister when she feeds.

I use Vaseline to keep in moist.

If you have thrush the GP can give you and baby medication, if you develop mastitis the GP can give you antibiotics.

Worth a visit I reckon.

Could the blister be infected? Sometimes feel a little faint but that could be the cold I guess.

We are away from our registered surgery for an extended time but I guess it might be time to see if I can see a GP here. Not sure what they can do though.

I have a recurring milk blister, I pop it and use lansinoh and try to feed on that side more often. If I get a hot, sore, engorged boob then I also pump after feeding to try to shift it. Or I express in a hot bath.

I was under the impression that burning pain was thrush though, especially if it continues after feeding. Can you contact a breastfeeding helpline for advice/ see your GP?

This will sound odd but it sometimes feels like...heartburn in the breast!

TeacupTempest Mon 20-May-13 10:27:09

Yep being using lansinho too. The pain has only been in right breast but there is a very slight tingling in left as of yesterday. Very slight though.

i had a milk blister <shudder> i popped it cleaned it and smothered in lansinoh and was pain free in 24hrs. In the meantime hot flannels on the affected breast in the shower was very soothing.

You have my sympathy.

noblegiraffe Mon 20-May-13 10:15:51

Lansinoh after popping it to help it heal?

If it's any consolation, if the pain is only in one breast then it's not thrush.

Thanks.

Tried everything except the hospital grade pump!!!

Don't know whether to cry or laugh. Might do both!

How annoying!

There are some more detailed suggestions here you could try?

Thank you. Have been doing that sad

If I take the top off it leaves a small open wound, sometimes quite raw. Then by next feed its blistered again!!!

noblegiraffe Mon 20-May-13 09:53:13

Ah, then milk is probably still backing up behind it. They're bloody painful aren't they?!

You need to try to get rid of it, with a sterilised needle (you can sometimes just scratch off with a fingernail but make sure your hands are clean). Then try to hand express/feed off the blockage from behind it. Hopefully that should sort it.

TeacupTempest Mon 20-May-13 09:46:58

No it still here!

noblegiraffe Mon 20-May-13 09:46:17

Did you get rid of the milk blister?

TeacupTempest Mon 20-May-13 09:39:06

Going a little mad her from lack of sleep and pain and confusing myself reading stuff on the net.

Several weeks ago I had a lot of pain suddenly in right nipple whilst feeding DD(17months). I put it down to DD teething at the time. In the end it resulted in an open crack.

This eventually seemed to heal. A week later a milk blister appeared and pain/soreness returned. Have been using warm compresses and continued feeding. Sometimes it seems to empty well but not always so have been hand expressing a little to encourage it.

It's getting worse! Now have throbbing pain. Burning sensation a few minutes after feeding which lasts a while.

DD had tt cut at 7 weeks but was very minimal to begin wi so can't really tell if it has regrown.

Have some symptoms of flipping everything it seems.

DD no obvious signs of thrush.

We both have a snotty cold

DD is a very fidgety feeder

Can convince myself it is thrush, mastitis, cholera if I look at the symptoms online!!!
