How to stay awake during night feeds part 10!(626 Posts)
Ds was up at 10, 11:30, 3:30 and 6:30. I can't wait until he goes back to sleeping through! I've tried to co-sleep this morning but looks like he's up for the day.
So tired I can't even remember what happened last night! Dd1 slept all night & no sick, so that's good. Dd2 fed at 10.30. I think she went down in cot after that. But can't remember when she woke after that, but she came in with me then. She woke at 4.50am! Didn't go back to sleep till 6.10! and then for just half an hour!
DH has to stay away extra day so he's not back till Thurs. That means he'll have been gone 5 days this week. More importantly 4 nights!
Thank you for thread abi
lazza 4 nights on your own... Have a or several. You deserve a medal too.
Back later. On way to work.
Crap nights had all round last night then!!
Thanks for the new thread Abi!
Usual night for us!
Well looks like little man has started a new routine of not going to sleep til at least midnight! We attempted an early night as he was asleep. As soon as we went up and put him in his crib he was wide eyed!
Cheers goat but I don't think I deserve anything. Today I am thoroughly fed up. Fed up of the sleepless nights, fed up of breastfeeding, fed up of her 40min naps, fed up of the house being a mess etc etc
That's all. Rant over. As you were!
lazza can I join you in your fedupness?
Sleepless nights - check
Short naps - check
Messy house - check
And I add work and their "Oh, could you just do this... Oh and this... After all you can't have much to do coming back off maternity leave..."
Hear that glugglugglugglug sound? It's coming from my house. Since it's virtual I will share with anyone who wants!
Last night was minimally fun here! Bed at 9.30, up at 1 (bonus)....then up at 2.30, 4, 5.30, 7 so after 1 didn't sleep longer than 40mins! Fun fun fun. On the plus side the GPs came up today & helped me clean house/walk dog/look after bubs & then went into town with DM & finally got a dress to wear for this weekend's wedding that I can BF in! Did cost £££ though...oops.
Evening ladies. Ds is having his bedtime feed now. He tried a little sweet potato mash this afternoon and had a chomp on some banana.
DP has me worried now because ds has had what looks like a dribble rash on his chest for ages but it seems to have gotten on his back, face and forehead. I told him it's just a dribble rash but he thinks I should take him to see the gp tomorrow. What would you guys do?
I'm definitely feeling fed up too lazza. I thought starting weaning a little early would stop the constantly attached to ds 24 hours a day and not being able to get anything done but he still insists on constantly feeding and refusing to sleep anywhere but on me in the daytime. I'm really hoping for a good night tonight. I don't know how much longer I can go without bursting into tears
Not just me then! To be fair to them both, they could make it so much harder in the day. They're pretty good most days. Just makes me feel even more guilty for being so tired & useless!
Both in bed now. Who knows how long for?! I should go to sleep but feel like there's little point, babylazza's mummy sleep sensor will kick in approx 10mins after I fall asleep
abi if the rash has spread I might be inclined to check it out. Could it be reaction to something? Or heatrash maybe? We have a nurse practitioner at our practice, so anything I feel needs checking but maybe not need Dr I try to see her. Maybe you could do something similar?
soyo a true measure f my tiredness....when I first read your post I thought 'how the hell has she got the doctors to do all that'! Then my brain clicked into gear
Good luck all for tonight!
Good idea Lazza. I think I'm going to get him weighed tomorrow so I will ask then if there's someone I can see without having to see a gp.
Ds is finally asleep. I think he's decided he likes to sleep on his front. Should I leave him to sleep on his front? He's on his back atm but he keeps waking himself getting onto his front.
First feed here. Eyes are so stingy .
Hope everyone is having a good night.
Also on first feed - can't quite focus my eyes. Knew I was in for a disturbed night because DD was really sleepy today and probably.got too much sleep. I hope she lasts through now...
It's not so much the getting up in the night that I am finding difficult, it's the length of time I am up for! I find myself pleading with baby just to go back to sleep! a lot of the time it is because he won't bring his wind up! I try and try and try and he just won't burp!! It drives me crazy! Then when I finally give up and put him down he squirms like his is uncomfortable with wind and finally wakes up and cries!! It is sooo frustrating! I do feel sorry for him too though as it can't be nice to have a sore tummy in bed! I can't wait till he doesn't have to burp after feeds!! How long do I have to wait??? Xx
Same dilemma here roisin. She's now asleep on my shoulder, no burp and i'm not going to risk changing her as it'll take me another 30 mins to get her back to sleep. Possible transfer fail but I think i'm going to risk it (for a chocolate biscuit )
Wow. Epic transfer fail. Just experienced meltdown. Winded and changed but screamed the house down (DH snoring but will claim interrupted sleep come the morning). Just stopped but not asleep yet - proper fidgety. Not coping well on 2 hours sleep
Any & Ro that's crappy, hope you're asleep now! I burp her halfway through her night feeds but not at the end, but then again we have a lot if fails too so maybe I should!
We had a difficult time getting madam to sleep last night and she settle in her cot but woke up 30 mins later. Finally got her down in her Moses basket just before 11 & she's only just woken up! It's been weeks since she went 5hrs.....amazing! Would only have been better if I hadn't been waking up since 2 expecting her to wake up & didn't now have sore boulder boobs, but I'll take both of these gladly!
My posts from earlier seem to have vanished
Ladies if you are breast feeding and have a good latch you don't actually need to burp baby as they don't take in any air.
Shitty night here. Started up in cot but up every hour. Epic transfer fail so back in bed with us!
Well, by our standards last night wasn't too bad. Fed at 11.30 & 2.30 and has been in her cot all night BUT she woke at 4.30 & despite desperately trying to feed her back to sleep, is wide awake! She didn't wake crying I just heard her babbling & squealing she can't possibly be happy to start the ay at 4.30 (I'm not!) but I've ended up getting up with her as I worry she'll wake dd1.
I never get any wind out f her at night, despite vague efforts. Probably why she ends up farting for about an hour when she first gets up. I also don't change her nappy unless I know it's dirty.
I have found though that if she's a bit flappy when I first out her down, I turn her onto her side. Usually sends her straight off. Could be worth a try?
Thanks lazza - It's worth a go. Took me almost an hour earlier to calm her down and she doesn't usually have a problem but it must have been trapped wind as she burped as soon as I picked her up and then kept farting while I tried to get her back to sleep. I only changed her as she was awake anyway!
We've had some reasonable night recently and i'd forgotton what it was like only sleeping in two hour chunks. Holy crapola. And if she's like this because she slept a bit yesterday, I don't really want her to sleep much today (except I do, or i'm going to fall over a lot) so i'm screwed. And DH is working today so can't keep her entertained for a couple of hours while I sleep
Well, she went back to sleep at 5.30 so I dozed on the sofa with her till she woke at 6.15am. Not sure what to do about these early wakes. Dd1 went through a phase f eaking at 5.15am and it went on forever! Would be easier to keep her upstairs if I didn't have to worry about dd1. The thought of both of then awake before 5am is the stuff of nightmares!
Have a good day all.
Sorry I haven't posted recently. I feel so exhausted during the night.
Will catch up on posts later today.
Supreme transfer fail last night. I feel like I'm never going to be able to put her to bed. How do ppl do it? Just put baby in their cot in the evening and they sleep for a good few hours, or even until the morning? Seriously. I have no idea. I clearly have serious parental failings as I can't do this. 'm just waiting for the rally of comments in a few months from ppl suggesting I just let her cry (I can remember the with ds. It's soul destroying and makes it impossible to talk to anyone about I'm feeling or what I'm doing with dc)
Now of course, following the news report about risks of bed sharing I'm paranoid about night feeds. I can't stay awake while I'm feeding and she doesn't settle in her cot. So I guess I just have to sit up on a cold floor or something and nev ever ever go to sleep.
Well, that's a plan at least.
Off to read your posts with my morning coffee.
Well, i've just been told. DD up again an hour ago - wide awake. Tried getting her back to sleep but no, it's daytime now. DH offers kindly 'there there - give her to me' and has a minute or two before saying 'i'm late.for work' and spending the next 10 minutes telling me what I should be doing. Apparently:
I should go to bed earlier
I should try and do more things for myself (like the laundry, cleaning, tidying, etc)
I should make dinner before she goes to bed instead of eating at 9pm every night (in conjunction with the previous two points)
I should spend less time sitting on the sofa watching Jeremy Kyle (when i'm feeding her?)
I should try and sleep more during the day (as she doesn't sleep for longer than 30 mins, no point especially if I need to do something for myself - see above)
All of which begs the question - what the $ۤ% does he think I do all day? He told me that other mothers can't live in an untidy house and have no time for themselves. Of course not. I suspect i'm the only one. How awful of me. (Btw - I do slag him off on here because he is a bit of a s*it, but I obviously love him and he's just a bit ignorant and doesn't know quite what to say when i'm a snivelling mess, but then who would?)
Time for a so I can put my feet up....
