Help! Need energy boosting meal ideas while breast feeding!

Hi

Am bfing week old son and am already shattered! Any suggestions on snacks/meals which will give me an energy boost but at the same time be nutritous for baby?

snack on dried apricots as that will boost your iron levels. Get dh/dp or anyone visiting to make you sandwiches which you can eat with one hand whilst b/feeding. Also get significant other to make lots of pasta type meals that you can quickly reheat - spag bol, pesto pasta, pasta with veg sauce. Bananas also will give you energy and bowls of cereal for a quick fix

pumpkin seeds help a bit. Or any seeds I think.

I read recently that lack of B vitamins can cause tiredness, but i was always convinced that iron was a major culprit. If either of those theroies are true then things like dried fruit, eggs and bacon and avocado sandwiches should help too.

But there again you are going to be tired with a week old baby whatever you do and any healthy food helps. equally I wouldn't blame you if you just scoffed jaffa cakes all day. mmm jaffa cakes.

i found the gi diet but with no calorie restrictions helped a lot. In particular avoid sugar, it will make you tired.

also watch iron, vit C and vit Bs.

and lay off the caffine if you can bear i
