Hi guys, ot sure if this is the right thread to use but since you're all mums on here it's as good a place as any...

Anyway, DS is 14 weeks tomorrow. He has been sleeping 8pm til 11pm when he has a feed then sleeping through til 8am give or take.
He is/was on 6x7oz bottles of which he drinks between 5oz and 7oz generally.

Anyway, Mon am he woke at 6.30am so went to bed a little earlier that night. Then Tuesday am he woke at 6am so we stuck with the same feed routine as monday (just an hour earlier than 'normal' throughout the day - in bed at 7pm instead of 8pm). This morning he woke at 8.20am (which is more normal for him than 6am as stated above) so by the time i'd dressed him etc and made bottle it was 8.45ish. Usually he's on 3 hourly feeds which seems to suit him - sometimes crying for feed slightly early but generally fine.

But, he had his feed at 8.45 then was desperate for a feed 2 hours later, which I gave and so the day has gone on like this. He has fed at 8.45, 11, 1, 3, 5 and now again at 7 (which he's leaving most of as he's so tired - that's the other part of this, he has refused to nap throughout the day - literally having a couple of 20 min nods all day). I should point out that he's never been the best napper in the day, but the last few weeks we have managed to get into a routine of 2/3 hour long naps (again, give or take). All the bottles he's had today, he has drained straight off.

I'm not worried about this, just wondering if anyone can shed any light on what's going on/changed etc.

I do have a tendency to get myself caught up on feed times/routine. Like, we're out for the day tomorrow and i've spent the week thinking (not fretting exactly, just mulling over) how to fit the day in around DS routine/feeds etc) but I can't really do that if DS keeps changing it up a bit each day...
What have others done WRT routine - do you stick to times regardless of the time DC wakes, or do you run each day as it comes?

So sorry this has been so long, I wanted to get as much detail in there as poss so I can get a better answer off you experienced mums.
Please offer some advice/theories/anything...

Kx

Personally I've tried to keep to rough times, but with your waking times so far out I think you will have to go with the flow.

If you are worried, and you think he may sleep late again tomorrow, why not wake him at 7am with a bottle and see how it goes from there?

Will he have the opportunity to nap tomorrow, maybe in the car?

Hope you are going somewhere nice Smile

I struggle with naps away from home - he HATES the car with a passion. It's a funeral we're going to which is the only reason i'm going so far - it's about 40 mins in the car. He's not as bad as he was in the car - it used to be that EVERY journey was bad, now it's just most Grin

He has reflux (on omeprazol and Pepti 1 milk for it) so I think thats what causes the issues in the car pram. We're not staying the whole day - it wouldn't be fair, the poor boy would be completely frazzled by the end of it.

I might have to start waking him at 7 isn just so I can keep to some sort of timing routine with him.

Could todays antics and the last few early wakings be caused by a growth spurt?

Oh while i'm at it, do babies tend to concentrate on one thing? I mean, on monday he was trying really hard to turn over - really stretching and trying to push onto his side, then yesterday he didn't do it at all but I did hear him laughing properly for the first time, then today he's been generally happy (aside from screaming for food every 2 hours) but no trying to turn while on his mat and no proper laughing like yesterday. Don't know if this paragraph makes any sense - i don't know how to explain what I mean properly...??

Yes they do concentrate on one thing at a time and this could well be a developmental leap. Have you seen the wonder weeks website or read the book?

I've had a brief look. will have a look in more detail and find out more.

all my plans to read up about development/weaning etc went out the window as DS was, er, a handful shall we say - screamed constantly, wouldn't be put down, had to sleep upright etc.

hes only recently started to let me have my hands back for short periods. went with Harvey Karp's theory in the end and just went along with ds.

Have every sympathy as my DS was just like this, his turned out to be tongue tie and upper lip tie.

Think just going with it helps keep you sane.
