4 month old stopped wanting milk

DD is 16 wo and for the past 10 days or so she has stopped wanting her milk. She is FF on Aptamil with carobel thickener for reflux and she was having 5 5-6 oz bottles a day with no problem but now I struggle to get her to take 5 3-4 oz bottles, and even then I have to give her a dummy and then quickly swap it with her bottle. It's as if she would happily not eat at all!

She is teething which no doubt is contributing but I can't help but worry as her weight gain has slowed down. I've tried introducing a dream feed but she just won't take it. On average now she is having 16-20 oz a day which I know isn't really enough.

The doctor said if she doesn't gain this week then she will be referred to a paediatrician.

Can anyone please give me any advice as to how I can get her to eat more or has anyone been through this?

I don't have personal experience, but a friend had similar.

Have they checked for a missed tongue tie, as theirs had been missed. Their DD dropped from 25th to below 5th centile.

Otherwise take the paediatrition appointment, at least then you will definitely know what's up.

Hi Cam thanks for your response. She had a tongue tie snipped when she was 2 weeks old so can't be that, I just hope this is a phase and will soon pass.

I think tongue ties can reform in some cases so definitely worth getting hers checked out.

If she is teething it may hurt to eat. Try giving calpol shortly before she's due a bottle.

Have you tried changing to a bigger teat? Maybe it's getting clogged or its alot of effort to suck a whole bottle?

My dd (just turned 5 months) has for the last week or so been seeming to want less milk - regularly taking 5/6 instead of 7/8 ounces. That said today she's had 3 x 7oz and a 10oz + solids!
