Working evenings can bf continue ?

After worrying my left side is drying up I'm
Now worrying about returning to work . I will be working from 4pm - 9.30 pm 3 nights a week and 6.15 pm - 8pm the other 2 evenings . These times mean I miss dinner time and of course bed time . My DD will have to take a bottle in this time , what time should we do a bottle feed , I'm hoping she will take it at 8pm and will be happy on her solids only until I return home. Also I cannot express for two reasons 1 being I can't get more then 1 oz at a time and 2 I work ok the road.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

How old is your little one? I left my 9 mo one night a week from 5-9 and he refused ebm I left. I used to wake him and feed him whilst he was half asleep to take pressure off my boobs. Didnt seem to cause any problems. You could express as soon as you get on and stockpile so you can leave ebm. A friend of mine did 4 full days at work from 10 months on expressing once at work during lunch and it was fine. Baby never had formula as she was very organised.

How old is dd?

Expressing - however much you get off isn't an indication of how much is in there.

If baby is 6 months plus, you may get away with feeding before work and when you come home (time a solid dinner for around 6pm) and try her with expressed milk or formula.

It doesn't have to be 'all or nothing' with breast feeding. You could mix feed and your dd would get the benefit of your milk. Obviously if under 6 months, you would need to express to maintain/boost your supply.

For the record, your company should legally allow you time and space to express, that could be coming home to feed instead. Talk to your boss, they might be able to work something out.

Hello , thank you for your reply , she will be a week off 8 months when I return , I could ask them however I visit clients (elderly ) and if that means cutting the clients down I won't earn as much money and would mean I would have to take on an extra night and I have older children too so need to spend some evenings with them. I am trying to express and have some for when I go back. It's breaking my heart the thought of leaving her . She went to bed at 7pm last night and woke at 9 pm I had last fed her at around 4 pm so I know she can go quite a long stretch . Just worried about my supply as would love to get to a year :)

Really late to join this, but just wondered how it worked out for you in the end, OP? I'm facing the same problem and it's really worrying me - I have to go back to work soon for at least 3 evenings a week (back by 9pm), but DS is exclusively bf AND completely, totally refuses a bottle of ebm from anyone who's tried to give him one so far. What the hell am I going to do? Sorry to butt in on your thread, and so late...
