best to just cream stuff off the top of both or concentrate on one when feeding?

about 24 hrs with ds as I recall. less than with dd anyway. am hoping the more babies you have, the quicker it goes.

ouch indeed.

this time i just 'creamed off' as you put it cos i reckon the more you drain the more comes but only for the actual hot -rock bit then 1 each feed. Take some pictures - lightens the mood !

When Ds3 was born that rock like nork stage went on for days.

Even breathing near them had me weeping in pain.

(I didn't BF mine for this reason. rocklike norks are worse than labour IME)

IMO its better to let them finish on the one said, and then when they pull off, offer the other side. If she doesnt take much from the other side, express to give a bit of comfort (and help build supply).

Only lasts a few days tops though.

I used to sleep while feeding ds in bed all the time. only way I could get some sleep. just don't put her near the edge of the bed (ds fell off twice)

You can feed laying down but shouldnt go to sleep. (Although i ALWAYS did with my two Blush)

lying in bed feeding baby is a top idea, enid.
you can all drift off to sleep in a beautiful milky haze Grin

i think hot rock stage not as bad with subsequent births - does not last as long

Mine only lasted 2 or so days. Isn't it funny that those huge things keep standing up when lying on your back? I did anything for comfort, including creaming off both sides. Once I forgot, and sod's law, ds slept for 4 hours so one side was EXPLODING... gosh it does hurt, doesn't it. Just looking at them hurts... Still, not too long to go, fortunately

Feed in the bath. While Bea has one side the warmth (and suckling) seems to "release" the other side. I would then let her finish off that one. This was the only way I could get through the enormous stage!

Savoy cabbage leaves :) I also expressed once at this stage as it was too damn painful for her to feed either! I know it says this makes more milk, but for me it emptied the tank once properly and then things settled down. As she fed, I made milk, before then I was just filling and filling my boobs and they were almost too much for her to feed from IYKWIM

oh, I never thought of feeding in the bath. Tried cabbage leaves, but I dont think they did owt apart from imprinting a nice image of savoy cabbage leaf in red on my skin.
