Gagging at 11wk old's smelly farts - tough it out or seek help?

My diet is varied and normal. My baby is content and gaining wonderfully.

So why the stink? It's usually breaking during a feed. My DP asks me to warn him if baby Squeak drops one!

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Don't remember Dc1 doing this at all.

Is it just me with a stinky baby?

I can't remember ever being repulsed by my own baby's farts! Sometimes they were pretty potent when he would miss several days between poos, but we would rather be amused than gagging! Sorry nit more help, does he seem to have tummy ache?

One of the babies in the Fat Ladies Club book had this, there was a medical (but not serious) reason! If anyone has the book, please check it and post!

My ebf dd has this. And v vile stinky poo. DS on the other hand had the sweet bf baby poos that the books go on about. I don't think it's anything of concern personally...

Oh my dd stinks too. She now has one bottle at night but she stunk when I was ebf too. She is now 14 weeks. Could it be lactose intolerance? My dd is also a very unsettled baby who never sleeps unless I walk her in the pram (artificially rocking it indoors does not work!!!!) or we co- sleep! I am insane with exhaustion so if the smelly gas is linked to anything then please let me know if you find out. I have an appointment with my Gp in two weeks so will certainly mention it.

My ds has some super stinky farts! He is 11 wo and EBF. I am not worried but it is off putting!

Interestingly I don't remember my dc1 doing such smelly ones either!

We have this ebf at 13 wks. We all had noro virus in December I was thinking it might be linked? I have tried to get some prebiotic powder in expressed bm down him but its such a faff. We have both been on antibiotics due to gbs at birth.

Watching with interest

If it's not smelling like butter popcorn I'd see someone about it. A BF baby shouldn't smell that bad, for some reason something's not being digested properly.

There's a lot of farty babies out there!

Thanks for all the testimonials. Feel less worried but will check with HV on next visit if it continues.
She's happy in herself but does suffer from the odd painful wins session. I try Infacol then.

Thanks again all.

All mine have been butter popcorn, it's quite a common description from parents and HCPs. EBF babies generally don't smell bad because they use up everything and nothing goes to waste, there's no rubbish in breastmilk.

Dd1 smelt sweet until weaning.

Dd2 was windier than the seafront, and even the dog used to leave the room.

Both ebf, no gastro issues.

My dd is also 11 weeks ebf and farts like a trooper, and stinks too! She doesn't poop very offen- maybe every 4 days. Have discussed this with our Hv and the gp who both said this is perfectly normal.

What do you mean by stinky? My ebf baby farts and it just smells like baby poo, ie that sour milk scent.
