as the mid morning one is becoming a struggle to give as dd is not interested, her morning and evening ones are fine so should I just go with that, 8ozs in each one? (can't get anymore than that into her)

what times do you give her bottles?
so at the moment is she having 3 a day, and you want to drop it to 2?
my dd almost 10 months has bottle in morning 200mls then at 2-2.30 200mls then at 6 2oomls she doesnt always finish each one. I think as long as they are having 500 mls a day it is fine. have you thought about putting less i the bottles and then spacing them out through the day.

she gave up the afternoon bottle a while ago as again she just wasn't interested, she gets her first bottle around 6-6.30am and her evening one inbetween 6.30-7.00pm during the day she has water, however I do use her formula milk in breakfast, can't see the point of continuing with mid morning if she doesn't want it, she does drown her morning bottle which is 7ozs

My DD is 8months 1/2, she is on the Growing Formula (should be for 10months old) but the Follow on Milk was not filling her enough. So she has 150ml in the morning, then boiled cows milk with weetabix, then only water during the day (she has refused drinking milk during the day since she was 6 motnhs old, when she started pureed food), then she has 180 ml of milk at 18.30 pm then 220ml at 10.00pm(dream feed). I have seen the HV on Monday who told me that DD should drink at least 600ml of milk a day until she is 1year old...

I'm having same probs with 7mth old. She will not have milk first thing as she just wants her porridge (which i do make with about 100ml). She'll then have a couple of oz's (60 ml) mid morning which is probably more of a drink really. Then no more milk during the day, however she does have 7oz (210ml)before bed (around 7pm) and then another 7oz(210ml)dream feed at 10pm. So all in all about 570 ml. This is probably just short of recommendation so I do add dairy in other forms eg cheese and yogurt etc.

Just out of interest how does your baby drink water - from a bottle or a cup? My ds drank from a cup really early and we stopped all bottles by 1 year, (he was just having an evening bottle from about 9 months - all other milk drinks in a cup). But dd shows no signs of being ready for a cup yet???

Hey Raggydoll, we seem to have a similar DD in a way of drinking milk!!! DD drinks water out of a cup since she was 6 months old (when she started solid food). She loves her water, it was messy to start with but she now is very good at drinking water by herself (she holds the cup of water properly but will never hold a bottle of milk by herself!). When I drink out of a glass, she always looks very impress so I have started giving her sips out of my glass (me holding it of course!). She loved doing it and usually have a giggle after doing it. So she has about 2 full cups of water during the day and then her milk morning and evening.

hi sunandmoon. dd woke up just after my last post and only just read your reply. Thanks for info I'm going to persevere with cups - is there one you'd recommend??

shellybelly - hope info on dd's milk intake helped. if i remeber correctly i had the same probs with ds and was a lot more concerned about it as he was my first, this time around i know its okay because ds was same and he is now very healthy two year old. hth

She is drinking out of a cup I bought from Morrison, it has a soft spout so if you put the cup upside down, the water runs out (!!!), it took few weeks for her to learn how to hold it, bend her head backward, find her mouth and drink it(and yes, we had to change her clothes many times a day as they were soaking wet!). I am trying now to make her drink out of a hard one, it is more difficult for DD to get the water out but I am sure she will get there.. DD is 8 months1/2 and started learning how to drink out of her 1st cup when she was 6 months old.
