Bottle Fed Baby.....

Becky is almost 19 weeks.

Since 7 weeks old she has slept from 7pm-6am no problems.

The last 3 nights she has woken between 12 and 1am for a feed.... will take 4-5oz and sleep til 6.30am again.

I dont know what to do, or what has changed.... could it be that she is possibly ready for the dreaded weaning (even though I want to hold out as long as possible) or do I jsut go with it?

Im scared of her getting used to this feed and waking for it out of habit just like Jessica did for 14 months!

HELP gratefully recieved, but PLEASE dont tell me about how its best for baby to wait until 6 months because I already know that!!!

Could you increase her milk during the day?

Babies go weird at this age. I know this won't seem very helpful, but sometimes if you know something is normal it can make you more relaxed about it.

growth spurt .. it'll settle down in a couple of week

you have been very lucky she sleeps so well up to now

and you know she isn't ready for weaning yet Grin... more calories in milk anyway

you could try cluster feeding (give 2 feeds close together e.g. 5pm, 7pm) and/or give a dream feed around 10/11pm(lift and feed your lo while she is still sleeping. Would your lo take any more in her bottles during the day?

Try what Seona1973 suggests and/or give her a hungrier baby formula just at the bedtime and/or dream feed. My HV suggested I did that with my DS and it def helped.

Probably hungry - started weaning my DS (now 7 Months) at 19 weeks (as soon as he started waking up at night again) - he almost ate the spoon as well the 1st time I gave him baby rice ! Although he is a big bruiser ! I strongly believe in following your instincts and also following babies lead with feeding/weaning etc...
